At 22:00 last night it was painfully cold outside, even for a few moments. (Mind you, the stars were amazing!)

-18!!

I suppose the only thing you can say about it, is the clarity of the air lends itself to gorgeous pictures

But the best image of snow-clad Britain must be that from NASA's Terra satellite:

That's like wall-to-wall white. O_o

I thought I was jaded by pictures of earth from satellites, but then that one comes along! And yep - I think everywhere has snow, or at least a few centimeters of ice.

I've never heard of it being like that over the whole UK, unless it was back in 63, and I've certainly never seen an image like that.

My father keeps telling me about the winter his father died. It froze the farm pipes from December to March - I guess that was '63 (it sounds about right).

Although he's never talked about it much, it makes you realise how goddamn hard it must have been to lose his father and try to keep the farm going through that winter. Shit, that's a lot of crap to deal with when you're 18!

It is! And if we have to suffer three+ weeks of snow and ice, at least we have such images :)

Well, it's better than not having them ;P
