UGH. This enrages me. Seriously, people treat freelancers so poorly and it SUCKS.

FYI: this isn't strictly relevant, but I freelance teach sometimes, and my lawyer cousin & cousin-in-law tell me that adding an extra charge for late payment isn't enforceable in court, but including or not including a discount is. So now when I have clients I invoice (usually the corporate ones) I charge them £X as the discount rate (what they get if they pay within 30 days) and £X + £late fee as the normal rate.
