After Hedwig died, Harry didn't want a new owl.
His friends told him to just get another one, he'd forget the difference, but it wouldn't be the same.
So he used Draco's eagle-owl instead, knowing that this was another sign of trust.
When it died, Harry was stumped. What now?
Until, one morning, he woke up to a tiny black owl watching him from his bedside table.
Draco smiled and put a silver ring on her leg. The Malfoy and Potter crests.
She wasn't Hedwig, and she wasn't a Malfoy owl, but she was sweet and she was his. Just like Draco.
