I feel like you're my long lost twin or something. Stuff like that makes me insanely sad. I once told my father that I'd be a wonderful mother to a gay child someday.

His response was "Don't ever say that" which crushed me. His reasoning, besides being raised to believe it's wrong, was that a gay child has too much to overcome - too much prejudice and why would I want to wish that on a child.

I went crazy, and into my mode where I defend a person's right to freedom no matter color, sex, religion, or sexual orientation - and no one choses to be born gay. He frustrated me more in that moment than probably any other moment of my life!

The fear some of them live in just pains me. I watched the Rosie special on HBO recently and I cried through it. To see these people struggle not just to be accepted in society, but to be treated equally, just hit hard. They deserve to be mom's, dad's, lovers, partners, husbands and wives like everyone else.
