I had a pretty crappy day at work. I was fully prepared to come home and pour forth a river of rage onto this journal but instead Robin and I went out to dinner. Did you know that Chili's has 2 for 1 margaritas? EVERY DAY!! Not just on special days but on all the days. Because the brilliant people in charge of Chili's know that there is no telling

Futher Contemplation

What really bothers me about this is that I love my job. I love doing changeover. I love doing story time. I love picking the stories for next months story time. I really love helping customers finding books their kids are going to enjoy. I don't love shelving.

I just can't do them all on the same day or if the other employees fail to contribute (like answering the phones or not responding to calls for back up).

Jenne please start looking at the freaking calendar when you schedule me. This would also help us avoid those days when we have a costume character and I'm not there!!

yes ma'am! to all of this. I feel you so hardcore. My only suggestion is as soon as the schedule comes out and you notice something like not being scheduled on changeover day or costume character day, get 'em to change it! Seriously, that was the only way I really drove it home that they needed to FREAKING LOOK AT THE CALENDAR OF EVENTS TO MAKE THE FREAKING SCHEDULE. Otherwise, you know you only have to do this once more, and then you're going to a wonderful land where you get to create displays, do storytimes, help people find books, and, well, occasionally shelve, but that'll be your only job! Not ratcheting up sales in Music, not pushing a Member card, not not being there for important events because your schedule is set by someone else. Soon, soon. And in the meantime, keep drinking margaritas! I did not know that about Chili's, but now that I do... man, it's ON.
