Fitness update: look at me being a badass, typing from my work computer!

I don't care if they catch me.  There's nothing else for me to do so I might at well update.

I am on one of the biggest health kicks of my life right now!  It all started when I signed up for a gym membership at the YMCA.  I hadn't been to exercising for MONTHS at that point... my Summer consisted of me eating, drinking, and lying on the beach (not ( Read more... )

YOU GO GIRLFRAND! *snap snap* Seriously though, that's awesome - keep it up! I'm having a hell of a time eating properly lately, and I injured my foot doing some long-distance flip flop walking the other weekend, so my half-marathon training got derailed a bit. But I'm loving working out with my trainer, even though he took me to Timmy Ho's instead of working out today... Anyway, you should TOTALLY do a 10k! It's all downhill from there, before you know it, you'll be half-ing it up baby, WOO! ;)

Boys are stupid, I hate how they can eat whatever they want with no consequences. >:( Boourns!

It's so unfair... I live by this phenomenal pizza/greek place called Double D's, and every Monday the boys go and get the "Double D's Combo Special." It's ridiculous... for $12, you get a big thing of spaghetti and meatballs baked with cheese, garlic bread, a salad, a quarter chicken and a rack of ribs!!! The boys can eat that motherload once a week and stay skinny, while I'm working out six days a week and living off of stupid salads?? Mother Nature is a bitch.

Question: do you find that running long distances causes knife-like pain in both your hip-flexors? Because that's the only thing standing between me and that elusive 10K.

I always hated that about Ryan. :( And he'd enable me, so I'd end up eating half a pizza instead of just a slice or two, or two BK cheeseburgers instead of one. :P

Before I started working out with my trainer Cam, I had problems with hip flexors during longer distances, but not knife-y pain... it was more of a really tight, really sore feeling. We've been working on them a bunch though, and it's helped. Maybe look up some exercises that strengthen hip flexors and try doing them at the Y!

Yeah, I think the kickboxing has really helped with my running pain because it's so good for engaging my core. Before kickboxing, my wimpy lower abs weren't properly supporting the load on my hip flexors, causing them to get all angry and knifey.

I'm jealous that you have a trainer!!!
