If you want to see Liona's puppets attack from the other side, try switching the party members. So far I played first with Cory and Iksel, where Cory was front left, Rorona middle and Iksel back right. Later I replaced Cory with Liona, so she took her left place. If you switch between "pile of girls" and "healers party", dismiss Cory (instead of Liona) when hiring Iksel, then go to Square and hire Cory again replacing Liona. Your party members should have swapped their places both in battle and on the status/equipment screen.
