I want to ask for a nice, professional style, digital camera for xmas this year. Something not outrageously priced, but still a very nice nice camera that will get me incredible pictures.

Any suggestions? Or brand names to look at, or stay away from?

for digital, nikon and canon are the best right now i think -

the Canon Powershot SD500 and SD550 are good, as well as the Nikon Coolpix 7900. those are $300-$400 - what is your price range?

i'd go with one of those 2, the canon SD550 being my first choice.
