I think a lot of it has to do with the kinds of things I was interested in as a kid. The only comic book I read was Archie. Now I read the Buffy comics, but that's just because they're a continuation of the show. I think comic books are so heavily marketed towards boys and relatives will buy them for boys more than girls for birthdays and gift giving holidays. I remember being amazed by my cousin's comic book collection when I was a kid, but I felt no desire to have a collection of my own. One of my best friends is a girl comic book fan, though, so obviously it doesn't apply to all girls, but I think marketing and the grown ups in our lives when we were kids has a lot to do with it. Also, Archie comics don't really lend themselves to wanting to branch out comic book wise like something in the DC or Marvel 'verses would.

Hmm... that may be the case, seeing as my first exposure was when my dad brought me a Thor comic when I was sick. :)

How about NOW, though? Does interest in the movie make you curious about the comics?

I want to post this in an avengers comm but I'm afraid I'll get slapped, lol
