I thought the ep on the whole was pretty decent - well, except for the last few minutes, which were AMAZING, but more on that in a minute.

There weren't any spoilers about Bobby! Jim Beaver tweeted about a movie "The Abominable Snowman" he was filming in Vancouver and fabricated several comments about it...And then posted this after the ep:

Oh, that is awesome! I can't believe Jim did that, but I think it's great :) Makes sense, too, that I didn't see anything about it. I'm really glad - I LOVED the unexpectedness of it! :)

Totally agreed with all of this. It was a lot better than I was expecting. I can give or take Garth, and most of his stuff was, well... give or take. But I thought a majority of this episode was legitimately funny with some deeper emotional undertones. (Also, I'm glad they had that little scene where Dean called Meg for updates on Cas, because it made the "well did they leave her there on purpose or not" thing that got kind of rushed at the end of last episode more explicit.)

And Bobby's return was a complete secret; there were no spoilers. I told a few people last night that it was kind of hilarious how NOT secret they made Cas' return, considering how TOTALLY secret Bobby's return was.

Where they're going with this, I dunno. At the end of the next episode I could be yowling in agony. But for right now I'm just... so happy. Bobby :')

Also, for whatever reason, I loved the random sushi chef they kept talking to, lol. And Dean with a sword!

Yeah, that was rushed...I really didn't get it until the second time I even watched the ep. So I am glad they cleared it up.

And yeah - Cas's return was broadcast all over the internet, it seems, and I had NO clue there were plans for Bobby to come back. I figured there must have been some casting spoilers leaked, but I guess not. Which is totally awesome - it made for a great surprise!

Totally agreed on being really happy about it for now :) And haha, yeah I guess the best part of the MOTW SL was Dean with a samurai sword! I forgot to mention the pretty epic shot of him stabbing something invisible - that was great. The chef was cool too :)

Yeah, I loved that they found a random sushi chef to help them.

I also loved that Sam is worried-very worried- that his big brother is going crazy. It's so nice of the show to show Sam's protective side again.

I liked the episode and yes, Bobby was a huge surprise. It was as fun and fluffy-let's have random sushi chef bless the sword while Dean pours bottled water over it!- as I'd hoped it would be. And Sam and Dean needed fun and fluffy.

I've just been so worried about Dean and his depression/alcoholism/suicidal thoughts lately (that sounds stupid to say about a fictional character but you know what I mean), but... Sam definitely had his own issues to take care of. It's not like Sam is in the clear now, but maybe they can work together to make Dean at least a little better ( ... )
