I never want to hear this Christmas song again

Dec 23, 2007 10:21

It was played this morning on the radio, and it made me cry. Now, I still tear up and I can't get it out of my head. It is called "The Cat Carol" If there is anything in the world that cuts me right to the core is the thought of small animals out in the cold.

Yes, and I weep at the Velveteen Rabbit, too.

Holy Crap. I just googled the lyrics. Talk about a punch in the gut. I think that's even more of one than "The Christmas Shoes".

I have to agree, "the Christmas Shoes" have nothing on this one.

I'm sort of afraid to google "The Cat Carol," but the shoes thing is so over-the-top maudlin that I can't take it seriously.

As luck would have it, the Christmas shoes was playing on the radio on the way to work. It did not effect me the way the other song did/does.

Ever since the cancer hit 4 years ago, things like that song just cut me to the quick. I was always soft hearted, but now, it has gotten exponentially more so where animals are concerned. The thought of a cat outside in the cold meowing to get in, and no one hearing just wrenches my insides.
