Brilliant. :)

As I'm sure you know, three of the four countries I've lived in have socialised healthcare (I'm not sure about the fourth - I was young and didn't need to think about it). I have to say, I'd hate to live without it.

I don't know what the coverage is like on the other side of the pond, but living right next door to the excited states of America the things that show up in the news concerning this issue are quite frankly bloody appalling: The misinformation and fearmongering are beyond belief, and people believe it. It is utterly insane.

If this attempt to bring the US into the 21st century fails, it only serves to prove what a good portion of the rest of the world believes about the US is true: As a culture, they are the most ignorant propaganda ridden people on the planet.

It's been covered quite extensively here, partly because the right have tried to demonise the UK NHS as part of the scare campaign, to the point where they even stated that had Stephen Hawking been placed under the NHS, he'd have been allowed to die rather than be treated. Because naturally, if he's a scientist and they've heard of him, he must be American. He 'speaks' with an American accent after all, right?

I completely agree with your last statement.
