Repostan' from Tumblr; it's not particularly elegant, but I was proud of myself for expressing something intensely personal that's been troubling me lately and managing to make it more or less cohesive.

All I know is, I'm really glad that you persevered through the hard times. It would have been a real shame to never have met you, because you're awesome. :)

I don't think that I can come up with anything more eloquent than this (certainly not anything as concise). Luckily, I don't have to! All I have to do is say - I agree wholeheartedly. <3

No food tastes as good as skinny feels, right?
The existence of cheese renders this argument moot. Also strawberry milkshakes. And homemade mashed potatoes.

On a more serious note, I'm really glad you've been able to come through your depression. I've been there too and anyone who says you should be unhappy with yourself can go fuck themselves. You are fabulous.

My weight is totally unrelated to my happiness, but I find it funny that people say that because when I WAS thin, I was quite depressed, and now I am very happy, and also pretty fat. So actually ALL FOOD tasted better than skinny felt.

Thank you for your words; they truly are uplifting (more uplifting than grilled cheese, even). I'm happy to know you, and I'm happy to know you got through it, too.

I wish I'd known all this about you before... I would have posted less about my lame-ass "I was 20 pounds lighter in university" problems. Either way, glad you're doing better now :)

It doesn't bother me at all; I'm not saying it's great to be overweight by any means, and if people want to lose weight to get healthier and feel better, then I am 100% behind that. I know it's to my benefit to eat better and exercise more, but I don't believe it determines how well or how happy I deserve to be. It's more a reaction to the messages we constantly get telling us (especially those of us who are women) that we won't and shouldn't be happy and well unless we're thin-- that simply by being thin, our lives will magically improve.
