What I find marginally forgivable in people such as my manager (!) and coworkers I find absolutely UNforgivable in the press and anyone who has business releasing statements of any sort to the public. Language is a living thing, new vocabulary and word usage is added almost daily, proper words are changed all the time (hello Toronto Maple LEAFS? !!) but that being said, the press has a responsibility to be accurate in all things, it's the public who changes language to suit their needs, not the press. I'm aggravated to no end. gah!
unbelievable. my wife's an internet news producer for a tv station... she spends the majority of her time editing stories b/c the anchors/reporters submit them like that all the time... lame. she also pulls stories off AP feeds, many of which are butchered... it just makes no sense to us :P i'm sending her that link, maybe they can post it around the station to inspire higher education...
