I believe that it would be somewhat unfair for me to compete, but if anyone is interested in the full Beckham story as told by the New York Times or the aforementioned video of dueling footballers (featuring the Estrogen Windmill of Death!) they can click on the links. If no one else attempts to answer, then I'll treat this quiz like the Germans treated Saudi Arabia's team back in '02.
Thanks for the article, I have not yet looked at that one, all I saw was the ESPN (linked above) and the Yahoo one. So the money is actually salary AND commercial opportunities.
I just hope it does raise the level of play so we can better compete on an even field. I would love to see an American club get its due globally.
That is a good start, I didn't think to throw in some questions as to what one looks like so you get bonus points for bringing it to my attention. Oh and I like you..and your good looking so that helps too:)
I can answer one!stratfordgalJanuary 12 2007, 20:43:57 UTC
A game is two 45 minute halves plus stoppage time. Stoppage time is time used at the end of each half to make up for anytime not spent playing during that half due to injuries, etc. There are no timeouts in soccer, and therefore there are no built in breaks in the action for commercials, which may explain why the netwroks aren't showing must interest in broadcasating it.
I could guess at some of the others, but I'll save myself the humiliation.

That is correct my dear.
You are also correct about the commercial breaks, it is a big reason why it has not taken off in the States.
Although I think things would be different if there was a more European influence such as a sponsor whose name is prominent on the shirts, advertising in the stands and the like.
Well you never know, you could suprise yourself with your knowledge.

Yes you can, I would love to sit and have a talk with him. And I would love to answer a counter quiz.
Does he have a favorite club?
I confess though that I don't have as much time to follow it as I want, there is only one channel I get the game son. But I do follow Man Utd on the web.

We've both been pretty sick and have not done much of anything at all recently.
Oh, and Manchester United is his team.
