So once again Canada Day and the unending media litanies about all the things that make Canada so great and Canadians some wonderful people that the whole friggin' world loves. Yes. I think it's important to know what's going on in a country, especially around Canada Day when people become blindingly patriotic, and as you said, smug.

Yup, there are still a lot of problems in this country, but I think it's still a pretty great place to live, and well respected internationally. Every country engages in some self congratulatory BS on patriotic holidays, nothing wrong with that.
