Go, Quebec! Run!

I've never been a fan of Quebec separatism. Not in the least. There's no logic in it... it'll be bad for both Canada and for Quebec. But after this week I am actually starting to feel some sympathy towards sovereigntists ( Read more... )

Thank you.

As it stands, those of us who are Anglo or Allophone Quebeckers, at least those of us with brains, are also starting to wonder whether the Canada that Harper mesmerize is worth rescuing.

I'm thinking so less and less. With its indifference, gullibility and stupidity this Canada has earned what it's going to get.

I'd go too.
I'm ready to move out of Canada when you are. :(

You didn't mention the whole surplus/deficit thing.

Harper has made my skin crawl since 2006. You analogy to Mugabe is something I resist, yet I see the parallels you are trying to make. The man is poisonous. I suspect there are decent people in the conservatives, some of them must still come from PC stock, but they'll never be allowed to show their decency under El Presidente Harper.

No, at the very root the comparison to Mugabe really is not so far off.
It boils down to this: if you oppose either of them, you are punished. The only difference is scale and sophistication. Mugabe uses brute force, Harper's more subtle.

Like Ive said before - take the separatism out of the bloc and I am totally for them - Canada needs their attitude and socially progressive attitudes to level the crazy that the Cons have brought.

Its just a shame that their original ticket is separatism. But then again, the NDP has the same challenge with leftism.

Without seperatism, and aside from the language differences, the Bloc and the NDP tickets are largely identical.

On a semi-related note, we've just been contacted by a raw milk cheesemaker in Quebec who is having serious issues with Ottawa. Would you be willing to give some input on the situation, or suggest a contact or two? Best we can figure, what the cheesemaker needs right now is publicity and legal aid, if such an option exists.

Sorry. Not onside on this one.
Health Canada regs on raw milk were based on sound science.
In addition a lot of these raw milk guys try to do end runs around supply management.

I am not talking about someone trying to bypass or violate the regs; I'm not sure what I said that led you to that conclusion.

Just assumed when you said a raw milk cheesemaker who is having probs with Ottawa that you were talking about the raw milk and cheese producers who are trying to sell their product in contravention of Canadian regs prohibiting them.
