yes! thats how it was for me at evergreen too. we lost everything. our 8th grade year our basketball team went 5-5. but otherwise in 3 years of soccer and 2 years of volleyball and 1 additional year of basketball we maybe won twice, accumulatively.

ok. I wasn't there either. I heard about it... and I'm not siding with anyone because I have no idea about any of it and I have no right to make judgements. and plus, I love all the freshmen. but from what I've heard, I think from the perspective of the upperclassmen and the coaches... they weren't blaming them for losing... they just don't think certain freshmen really want it as much and they aren't working as hard as they could be and a lot of the time, they seem out of it. those are NOT my words. but anyway, I know how it can get competitive and how much it can suck. but honestly... if you're a freshman on varsity, you're going to HAVE to work hard. I'm not saying that in a mean way, but freshmen are obviously inexperienced when it comes to high school varsity games and if they don't work hard, people are going to be pissed. I think that some people are mixing working hard and just plain not understanding together, but I couldn't say that for sure. I wish I had heard exactly what happened. I disagree with some things that I know ( ... )

I can assure you that people aren't going to outright HATE you for not being... as good. it's not that at all. people are just frustrated. and not because they're not good. but because they aren't playing with all their potential? something like that. they wouldn't have made varsity if they weren't good enough. but the thing is... everyone has to work hard if they're on varsity. underclassmen and upperclassmen. or on any team. if you work hard, you're good, and if you're good you can win, and if you win, it's a lot more fun. I mean, it's fun in general. but not when there's conflict between people.

haha. wow, I'm dumb. but I'm clarifying even more. when I say "work hard" I mean... make an effort. no ones blaming anyone for losing or anything.

yeah marge what you said is basically the same thing darcy said... and it makes sense especially the stuff aobut coming to practice late... i guess my problem is the whole idea of team sports that will make people so angry about it in the first place.
