If I lived in a city (and one in like the driest and hottest region in Canada, no less), I would probably hate it with a passion too. The cold is relatively easy to escape (bundling up, heat at home, etc), but not even central AC can save you from the displeasure of a blistering summer's day.
I spent two weeks in Toronto in the dead of summer and it was TORTURE.
Summer here is love-worthy, the air temperature is rarely higher than a comfortable 20-25 degrees (but, of course, the sun likes to make shit hotter if there's no cloud cover) and the humidity levels rarely breach the comfort zone. Sea breezes help too. I have a feeling you would like summers here.

(and besides, my upper limit for temperature is lowered by the fact that I refuse to wear shorts because of modesty)

(The dry part makes it easier to cool off if there's a nice little cave to crawl into. And no Mosquitoes!)
