Sorry, everyone. I've been terrible with LJ.

My hair is shorter, I'm reading David Copperfield (and like it so far!), and I need to go to the fabric store.

Why do I need to go to the fabric store?

Because I'm making a dress for the SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL. AND I'm making my dress for PROM.

There's a sketch of the festival dress...

That looks like a wonderful if totally ambitious dress!! some (totally unasked for) advice: don't use the good fabric first. make a bodice out of some cheap stuff and make sure it fits. two, the fabrics you've mentioned are TRES expensive. steel boning is also expensive and especially for the farthingale, plastic is much lighter, or get a cheap hoopskirt on ebay and fix it to the right shape yourself. also think about how you're getting in and out of it. google elizabethan costume and go to the first site- it's the BEST! but GOOD LUCK and have fun and email me with questions: accidit@gmail.com

Well, since I'm making my prom dress, my mother will (hopefully) be willing to fund TRES expensive materials. If not, I'll just get fake polyester and be a cheap-o! I'll consider plastic in the farthingale (since lighter is better), but I want to use steel in the bodice, since I'm not going to wear a corset.

But I'm definitely going to use cheap material first. No way am I going to spend that much time on a dress and have it not fit! :D

And thank you for the advice. Yours turned out beautifully, so I was going to bother you for help if I needed it, anyways.

What pattern did you use?

I didn't use a pattern, even though I got one (which i wasn't happy with). try looking for cheap upholstery fabric, and linen might be on sale at the end of summer...

this has nothing to do with your entry, but you're just like pai from 3x3 eyes.

by the way, I will *not* dress like a chinese rail road slave just so you can fulfill your fantasies of having an interacial affair during the victorian era. also, i will *not* pretend to be a refined white male with those fluffy dinner napkins hanging down my neck.

i'm a plantation slave, ya heard? give me a potato sack and some minstrel paint and I'm all set.

trust me, once you go black, you'll never go back. wink wink.

i love how you capped some things in your post, so they sound utterly exuberant and rather mad on my flist, but on your journal everything is lower-case so you sound bored, if anything. me, i'm just not going to bother. ;P

Oooh! Gorgeous! That looks amazing. I want to see pictures when you finish! What does the prom dress look like? Oh, and I saw Sabine today. She's actually okay as long as we aren't trying to be creative. I don't mind seeing the same exercises over and over again, especially since I"m still terrible at them!

Has class started? When did you see her? And don't you dare call yourself terrible at anything, missy!

I'll post pictures of both dresses when I finish. :D The prom dress is (some unknown colour, though probably dark blue) backless, with a high neckline in the front and ruffles down the back. It's kind of hard to explain. After I get the fabric (hint, mother), I should be done in about 2 days.

When are you leaving for college, anyways?

Classes didn't really start. I just caught the end of the summer session. I'm not at school yet - I'm leaving Saturday morning for my outdoor orientation program, then move-in day is Wednesday - so I plan to come visit school on Thursday and go to It's Ac practice because, among other things, I am a complete nerd.
