"Go Terps", says Dan Mote with his hand awkwardly placed on the globe.

Again, congratulations to you! I wish you good luck on Harvey Mudd. :]
Don't worry about it, though. While it would be very helpful to have a good foundation, it hardly depends on the school you're in. About 85% of one's performance would rely on personal abilities. (This is not an official statistic, just something I believe in.)
So, my question is, have you pursued a major in chemistry, as originally planned?

I don't know what I'm going to major in. If I go to UMD, though, it won't be Chemistry because they focus too much on BioChem. I'd probably do Chemical Engineering. If I get into Harvey Mudd, though, then I have no idea. I visited and loved every class I attended and every professor I met.

Well, I want to go to Harvey Mudd for the environment, mostly. I know that I'd find good friends at UMD, of course, but the whole big-school thing isn't that appealing to me. Maya would be there, though, so that might make it worthwhile! :D

Chem Eng would be excellent. You will have many job opportunities with that in hand.
In the end, only you will decide! So I hope everything proceeds for the best. And yeah, having a friend in one of 'em big schools can help you forget about your worries. Significantly. :]

I first thought of Chem Eng because I get to take LOTS of cool classes in different fields. Maybe I'll copy everyone else in my family and work for GM making paint colours for cars or something. :D

Well, if I get into Harvey Mudd, I'm going there. If I don't, I'm going to UMD. Either way, I know it will be okay.
