Outlander Prints: Help Me Choose 5!

May 29, 2009 12:59

I want to get some nice glossy prints made of a selection of our photos, so we can sell them from our booth at conventions. Buuuut, I need to narrow down my choices. So, if you guys could help me out a little and pick 5 of the following that are your favorites, that would be a huge help to me!

1, 5, and 6.

I'd give a maybe on number 2. The background isn't very good.

I would say 11, but it's blurry.

You guys really need more professional photos taken. In a lot of them either the background is really ugly, or someone is making a stupid face, or the composition isn't very good.

You really, really need a good professional photographer to do a bunch of group shots of you guys over the course of an entire day, or somesuch.

I knowww.... it's just really hard getting the entire group together at once to do a photoshoot. The guy from DimHorizons Photography is amazing; the one that took most of those pics of the girls... but we just started shooting with him recently. Hoping to do a shoot with him before Metrocon so we can get more good ones.

Thanks for the input <3

Oh, no problem.

Yeah, the pictures of the individual girls came out really well. The only reason I didn't go for 7, 8 and 9 wasn't because the girls weren't pretty, but because the pictures weren't visually interesting enough.

I wish the pictures of Danny had come out better, because he's such a good subject for photography, but they just didn't end up looking very good at all. =\

I just feel like if you're gonna offer something for sale, it should be top-notch.

I definitely agree, which is why I wanted to run these by everyone first. <3

Some great shots… If you're only printing a few then I would suggest the ones with multiple people.

Are any of you going to be at the cosplay photo shoot in Roswell this weekend? Great chance to get new shots in interesting surroundings.

Lol I know. His name is Alistair Westinghouse Cobblepot III. Isn't he a cutie? Danny's gonna edit him a little and make him more streamlined and less super detail realistic, then submit him to Threadless.

2, 3, 15, 20, and 21

Also, wouldn't there technically be copyright problems if you were to sell 17 or 19? I know a lot of artist alley directors tend to keep a look out for that sort of thing.

Why would there be copyright problems? They're pictures of costumes he made, not liscened art of the characters. Even if they were drawings of the characters that we had done, they'd be considered fanart which is allowed to be sold.

I've just heard a million different interpretations on the issue. My first instinct is to just avoid the issue if possible.

You do realize that 95% of everything sold in the artists' alley at every convention is fanart?

That's way more than 5! Can't you count?! Lol, kidding. ;)

I definitely want to do the fashion show, I just haven't had time to do any sketches of outfits... do I have to have that to submit an application?

And yes, everyone likes vampires! AND androgynous menfolk! It's a double wammy. <3
