Spicing things Up

This morning I made a huge pot of chili in my crock pot. It will cook for a few hours so all the ingredients simmer together. I never use a recipe for chili. I throw in celery, vidalia onions, two cans of kidney beans, tomato paste, stewed tomatoes, and a huge chunk of ground beef, which I already browned. Then I add chili powder, chili ( Read more... )

Firstly, I would like to welcome you back state-side, honey. I've been horrible this week about replying to journal entries. Know that I've read each of yours and I could tell that you had a marvelous time while in London. I am so happy that you have been enjoying life to it's fullest!

Secondly...Your chili recipe sounds fabulous. I'm not very skilled at improvising in the kitchen (that's Shannon's forte), so I have great respect for a person who can. Your crock-pot soultion to cooking it sounds like a very good idea, as well. We're preparing for a pre-Panthres party tomorrow and we were actually discussing a heartier meal. Your chili has convinced me that this is indeed the way to go! I just love anything with vidalia onions, don't you?

I have been to Greece before and you are going to love it! There is something very soothing about the Greek Isles. One of my friends, hsmithmier, is also going on a cruise of Greece this year with her husband. Perhaps you two could share notes if you are going around the same time? Let me know and I ( ... )

Miss Beth, you have traveled to some great spots! I always know I can count on you for travel advice!!! I would love to talk to hsmithmier more about Greece! Please give her my contact info!!!

I am so fortunate to have all this travel all at once. It is one of the things in my life that really makes me happy.

I missed you too! I am a bit behind on my comments, as well, but I definitely have been reading your posts. I am so sorry about your team last night...I was rooting for them!

I mentioned your trip to Heather yesterday, and she'd love to compare notes. She has yet to recieve their information however. I think she'll be very happy to chat with another person about the trip to Greece.

Primarily, she explained that their cruise will take them around several Ports-of-Call and Greece is one of them. Apparantly the information package on their cruise will list reccomendations for "what to do" and "what to visit" while there. I don't think they're truly staying in Greece, though. I think they just might be stopping for a bit. But if you all were going to the same location, why not share information?

I've left a message at home for my Parents, so hopefully they will find my travel notebook-or at least theirs-from the two days we spent in Greece. It was in my very early teenage years, so I prefer to give you notes that were jotted down than what I can remember (which is rather vague right now;)) My parents notes are even better, so when they return from Vegas, hopefully they'll find their book as well ( ... )

and number 2: greece! that sounds SO awesome. where is holly going in europe? holly would make a really good travel companion, i think...she doesn not bring drama and is not high maintenece like some other people we may know (ahem).

So fun! I am jealous!! :D We need to hang out soon, and maybe discuss some of our favorite HEROES (haha)

This comment has been incredibly random.

Jen, I promise next meal I make in that crock pot-- you're coming over! Me you and Holly. We'll watch Pee Wee's Great Adventure. It'll be fun.

Holly is the funniest person alive. I am going to write a post about her.

You should come to Greece with us....I think the three of us would all do well together. It would be full of fun and baklava.

Ugh... I just wrote this long comment and lost it. Anyways...

INCREDIBLE! Just this week I was talking about going to Greece and looking up some websites, trying to figure out if I could afford it. I think I'd rather go there than anywhere else I've been thinking about. Unfortunately, my budget will be the deciding factor. One of my close friends has been there twice and LOVED it there. I was going to call her to get more information.

It is wonderful that you are able to travel so much. I get 2 weeks off (paid) each year and one of those weeks isn't negotiable - the week of Christmas because the office is closed. The other week is combined sick/personal leave so let's just pray I don't get sick. If you find yourself on the west side of the country over a weekend, let me know. I'd love to meet up with you somewhere - even if only for a weekend.

By the way, I miss my crock pot. Your chili sounds wonderful! I'll have to go get a new crock pot and start cooking more.

I think Greece is going to be beautiful. The Greek islands were the theme of my calendar in my office last year (this year it's puppies).

If you get more info from your friend who went to Greece, I'd love to hear it too!

We are so fortunate to get 20 days of vacation, so I really have the opportunity, which I know most people do not have, so I am trying to take advantage of it. One of the only things in life that really makes me happy these days is going away on trips(another thing the two of us have in common!)

Baltimore's always a good choice, and you have an open invitation, of course!

I have an appointment tomorrow to apply for my first passport. 32 and never had a passport; kinda feel like a virgin here (only less excited ;). Have to be prepared for where ever Melissa decides she wants to honeymoon. I am hoping for Europe, specifically Ireland.

I have always wanted to go to Ireland. There are rainbows and pots of gold and shamrock shakes.
