Sinterklaas

After eating the chocolate letter I got for Sinterklaas from Bas - he made I-shaped letters out of L-shaped ones (cutting the small part of and eating that himself), because they never have the one's I like: pure chocolate with nuts in it in I-shapes (and hey what's the point of getting chocolate letters if it isn't the letter from your first name ( Read more... )

heheh. I love that! & those pictures! oh my. Sounds like a lot of fun to me :)

& you being a girl who doesn't wear makeup too much & then going to the complete extreme there - it tickles me :) & I'm jealous.

(I bet, though, that it was certainly messy to clean off afterwards for you both)

Oh, it was an absolute disaster! Everything that the kids could see had to be painted black and even the ears etc. We had to try and take it off with babyshampoo, which didn't work as bad as I had expected, but I still had black in my ears 2 days after..

Oh, it was a lot of fun, because you can act as silly as you want, which is, I guess you understand, not my strong point, but after a hile dancing instead of actually waling etc becomes a lot of fun & I had to do gymnastics with the children age 5-6-7 and pieten are supposed to climb the roof every night and go through the chimney -hence why they are black, it's not a racist thing- but I'm no star at gymnastics! I actually told I was nicknamed the scared piet and they took me by the hand and showed me everything they had to do and when I was in their class later on they asked me if I had learned something and if maybe I dared to go on the roof now, etc. It's very sweet and funny.

A lot, I actually had to take a shower with a lot of baby shampoo (which is the best thing to take it of, they said) and try and try and try and then 4 days later I still found paint in my ears. But it was a lot of fun and I actually made 25 euros with entertaining children for 3 hours, so it was a good deal :)

I probably did try and explain it, yes, I tend to try that with everyone. It's just that I never really succeed. It does frustrate me when people say: oh, it's like a copy of santa claus, because it's the other way around and somehow that annoys me, while I know it's silly. That's why I keep trying to explain it, I guess..
Yes, it is a very different side of me and though I'm good at being silly when it's private it was a bit scary to do in front of so many children and parents and teachers and my mother etc.

Oh & yes, I am happy. It feels great to finally say that.

you may not have to try and explain it again! there's a page on sinterklaas on wikipedia.
you could photocopy it and hand it out (:

it feels great to read it, too.
