I know this will sound silly, but can someone please tell me how I can cut a sectionfrom one image, and paste it to another?

take the marquee tool and highlight what you want copied. cntrl C and then go to the other image and CTRL V.

Okay, that seems to work, but it really just pastes a block of the backround color to the new image. I'm not sure what I"m doing wrong?

If you're working in a layered image, that could be a problem right there... it would only select what's within the marquee and on the layer you have currently selected.

I mean, I don't know if you've gone that crazybonkers, but it's a thought. :) Rummage around for Windows > Layers or suchlike (varies by version) to see.

problem is, there is supposed to be a layer I can just move. but the version of the image I got doesn't have that layer, that's why I"m trying to cut and paste, I need to make the image longer, and this is the flourish at the end.

i have photoshop during the day, and, well, pen and ink most any time.

mostly, i'm trying to make the line art as clean as possible, and work the font into it.

being a graphic design student also means i get access to other interesting goodies which are totally excessive and i love it.

ill keep you updated.
