Monday October 24, 2005 -- Boston, MA -- Metropolitan Pictures today proudly announces that our feature grindhouse horror comedy PONY TROUBLE! filled 200 seats at the premier last week, and so, by popular demand, we are showing it again next Friday!
Starring Melinda Desire-Frye and Irina Peligrad, PONY TROUBLE was filmed and edited in the Boston area using digital technology and an all local cast and crew. A truly independent movie and team project, PONY TROUBLE was completely self-funded, and the entire cast and crew donated all of their time and effort - for over a year - and in return each owns a portion of the movie and it's income.
PONY TROUBLE features a very unique soundtrack, including music by independent, mostly local bands Freezepop, Uncle Monsterface, Superpower, Dame Darcy, Daisycutter, Lorette Velvette and more. An accompanying soundtrack CD (and comic book!) will be released later in November, and both will be available for purchase at the PONY TROUBLE web site at www.ponytrouble.com, as well as select local retail outlets. The DVD is already available for purchase, and press copies are available for reviewers! Yes you can watch it at home while smoking crack and drinking a PBR! Actually this movie is much better if you watch it drunk.
PONY TROUBLE is the story of a group of "Live Action Role Playing" fanatics who take their fantasy game - the Pony Game - a bit too far. After their leader Cindy (Melinda Desire-Frye) wins the MegaToy essay contest, the Pony players get to star in their own documentary…but evil girl Donna (Irina Peligrad) decides she wants to make the movie her way. After taking over the group (by first dosing and then dominating each of them in turn) as well as the documentary filmmakers (in a grisly cannibalism-while-still-alive scene) Donna leads the group in a quest to steal the legendary "Rainbow of Might" from MegaToy…whose "agents" fight back in a hilarious, sexy, gut-wrenching and side-splitting crescendo of non-stop Pony Madness.
Please arrive weird and yell at the screen. No alcohol is permitted in the theatre. Buy popcorn and save the Brattle! Better yet hugely save the Brattle by coming to Pony Trouble with all your friends and seeing a movie about zombies, cyborgs, suicide bombers, cannibalism and of course, crazed women worshipping ponies.
