Rant: Won't someone please think of the Quickies!

God almighty, it's March already. Aside from the upcoming release of FutaAne, there's not much else to talk about at the moment. Not that I can talk much about FutaAne, but I can think of other things to mention...

R.U.R.U.R. -petit prince-: As if answering my prayers, light has finally updated the site for their PSP port of R.U.R.U.R. What is ( Read more... )

Odd hairstyle, better story? anonymous March 19 2010, 16:23:01 UTC
I take it from your review that you liked Arisa's route (despite its relative lack of CGs) better than most of the other routes in Starlight Serenade? Which of the other side characters are "winnable" this time around in the fan disc?

Is it more than a coincidence that Front Wing's -uta games all start with the same letter in their English translations? Snow Song, Sky Song, and now Star Song?

Arisa's route was alright, but there were some weaknesses. One of the main themes from her route is that she shows that she has grown to care about Mihoshi-cho. This doesn't really mean much until the story mentions that Arisa was at first miserable after transferring to Kazuhiko's school. The thing is, this was covered in Yui's route, of which she was a big part of ( ... )

Well, I hope you do make a full review of the remaining side character routes. I didn't get to see a picture of Seiko in your last review, though.

I must say I don't get the joke you're referring to about Yui's mother. Care to clear that up for me?

Arisa and Seiko didn't get pictures because they were background characters. I'm thinking of addind prominent side characters to those that I already write stuff about...

Anyway, the game sets up a couple of situations between Kazuhiko and Yui's mother that usually lead a comic resolution due to last-minute intervention from Yui. In Hoshiuta, Yui at one point pops up and says something akin to "my mother may be a widow, but even if she marries you I'll never call you 'father'!" (at which Kazuhiko replies "Don't go around randomly claiming your father is dead!").

Starlight Serenade has a scene where Kazuhiko falls on top of Yui's mom, where Yui pops up and screams "why are you in a position prohibited to anyone under 18?!". That sort of thing.

Ugh, I was disgusted by the verdict too. The man was guilty of bad taste at best (and even that's open to opinion), not child exploitation and the various other accusations dropped against him throughout the investigation.

Loli fetish is risque? That's news to me. Then again I'm so jaded practically nothing phases me.

Well, I'm personally not much into loli. I can tolerate loli characters that are sold as "older girl" type characters (Charlotte from Quartett!, Mishiba Karen from Rakuen) and to date only two have earned respect from me (Takatsuki Yayoi from Idolm@ster and Oukano Himawari from Green Green 2). Besides, I have to play things safe. Last thing I need is someone showing up at my doorstep with a subpoena. =P

And that's where our differences lie. I'm a shamelessly outspoken fan of loli myself, but hey. Whatever floats your boat.

Well, I was tactless in the way I wrote that comment. As such, I have reworded the paragraph in question. This is what I get for writing stuff when on the verge of keeling over from fatigue. >.>;;

I really recommend Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai. It might not have the complex stories that other games use as appeal, but the mix of comedy and heartwarming scenes kept me entertained all throughout the entire game without a single break.

Still, I got the subcharacter routes to go through, so getting back to it now.
