Yaruge and I almost never cross paths, and the few times we have came to be due to either my curiosity getting the better of me, or sheer dumb luck. As such, I can say I'm not too experienced with the type of content within them. While I guess there is a certain way one can appreciate the constant use of sex and risque language, these type of games

Funny you should mention the bondage game viewing, because that sprung to mind as I was playing thought this one.

Off the top of my head, I think I've seen scat play, water sports, loli sex (guess who that involves), body paint, hardcore S&M, bondage, rape, lactating breasts, putting-dog-ears-on-a-girl-and-making-her-walk-on-all-fours-in-the-middle-of-the-park-while-wearing-nothing-else, using-semen-as-a-food-condiment, "trap" sex (Miki), and what I call "unwashed sex" simply because I have no other term to use for it. Not much on their own, but when crammed into one game ( ... )

These fetishes sound surprisingly dark, especially the semen-as-a-condiment, which I've only seen once before in Mugen Kairo. But thanks for satisfying my curosity, in any case.

Despite having such fetishes, the game still manages to come out somewhat light-hearted, so it has that going to itself. *nod*

To me this seems to be a scattershot attempt at nabbing as many fans of as many different fetishes as possible. Neither is the art much good. Too bad, huh?

As much as my comparison gets ignored, Rakuen worked because while it was built around a similar premise, it was much more about the people involved in making the game. The staffers were also not completely ignorant about their subject matter (comparing Himeno Kisara to Mishiba Karen is like comparing a mouse to a lion). To top it off, instead of being portrayed as super-perverted people, the Rakuen cast was portrayed as ordinary (if quirky) people that happened to be in the business of making eroge. That's a huge difference in story potential.
I'm not asking for a 1:1 copy, but at least some depth and some character development would have done wonders for Eroge-!. While Nene and Iori ( ... )

By the way, did the ComiPa characters who were actual artists ever actually reveal if they had any ero-content in their doujins? It'd be a rather interesting bit if Kazuhiko poked into Aya's dumpbox and found some "compromising smut." Then again, unassuming fans drawing or writing strange stuff in their closet is nothing new to the world of doujinshi (let alone professional fiction writers). It could be an interesting segue into an "eroge production version" of ComiPa, such as if Kazuhiko decided to recruit one of the artist characters to become a doujin eroge CG artist.

By comparison, Rakuen required a bigger cast of characters because of all the roles within each group. Moonearth had Boku (character designer), Mishiba Karen (CG artist), Kantoku (Director), Ann (project manager), Marqui du Pasta Sauce (programmer), and Chikura Sae (scenario writer). This is not including the guy from Studio Jupiter, who was in charge of sound editing and music composition, nor does it include any "regular" voice actresses. Most of the cast was connected to Moonearth in some way.
