Dealing With Death

Today was an alright day for me until around 3 pm this afternoon when I took some time from cleaning and working on my son's project to check my email.  My mom left to get my middle son from school, and I received a shock.

While reading my email, I was notified that another friend of mine had passed away.  He had been in the hospital and now he is ( Read more... )

John Hillebrand...He was the husband of one of our Krewe members and a wonderful man. His husband is the gentleman that Mom rents her apartment from, Scotty.

John's passing was extremely unexpected and has shocked quite a few people -- not just me. From those that I spoke to yesterday at the "visitation", he was feeling wonderfully at the ball. But, he was put in the hospital with double pneumonia and it went from there.

So, yeah, it was very upsetting. Also, it hit home more than I expected since John was only 2 years older than me. So, yeah....

Remember, and remind the boys, that death is a natural function - we all have to go sometime. That doesn't mean you won't hurt form it, or mourn for those we loose, but for each one who passes into the Summerlands, there is another who will warm that emptiness.

*hugs*

tried my best to remind them both that when we pass from here we go somewhere so much better.

Unfortunately, I had to tell them Sat. night that we had one more passing to deal with. D's immediate reaction was that he didn't want to hear that one more person we knew had passed away. I told him it wasn't a human, but Great-grandma's baby, Mutley. He got sad (he's grown up knowing that puppy basically) and then said that it was okay because she lived a long time. We figured out that she was roughly 16 years old in our time. (D said that made her 106 in her years.)

Then I had to go tell G...who took it a little harder than D. When I reminded him how old she was and that her health hadn't been the best in the last year, he smiled. He agreed with me that she would now be able to play with the other animals that we have sent to the heavens. :)

So, they are both learning to accept death in their own way...just seems to be the cycle for it in their lives...and mine too.

Miss you all...HUGGLES, LOVES, n KISSES too...
