Two thirds of americans are supposedly "overweight" because they decided to set the "standards" of what should be considered "overweight" so fucking low that no ordinary human who eats normally could ever conform to it... and so they go on and on about how it's an "epidemic" just to make people rush to their doctors or their local jenny craig thinking they have a "problem"!! just because there's some elitist class of people (who happen to run our government and our weight loss clinics) who can't stand to look at large people or were fat when they were kids and can't grow up and move on past the ridicule they endured. it's all a media-driven hype...... *grumblegrumble*

I wonder if there ever was a time in history where the majority of the populace was athletic..

I seriously doubt it.

But I like the point they made that wieght is biologically driven.

If youve ever spent a winter in a place where it snows for six months, you know what I'm talking about firsthand.

Oh yeah. I'm not disagreeing with THAT. I firmly believe that people are genetically programmed to store fat for a reason. Sorry... I'm a little angry at the popular mentality against fat people and very active in size diversity issues.... and have a tendency to get up on a soapbox about it. It wasn't personal.

Hey, I'm all for "all shapes and sizes" in the eye of beauty. But to say that obesity isn't a fucking epidemic is absurd. Yes, tell it to chunky 5 year olds who run out of breath during recess because their parents stuff them with Burger King and chocolate milk to shut them up and convenience their daily routines (god phorbid they fucking cook something..oh I don't know...healthy?). And tell it to the 45 year old adult who is on the verge of having a massive heart attack because he's clogged his arteries with more fat and grease than John Travolta's hair ever saw.

I understand that it's absolutely ridiculous for everyone to try to live up to the media-driven standards of being a size 0 and starving yourself half to death to meet the western criteria of "beauty"...Some people are naturally bigger, curvier, et cetera, and people shouldn't discriminate against that. But to say that it's ok to be fat, obese, unhealthy...what the hell kind of logic is that? This shouldn't be encouraged whatsoever. People should go and see doctors and ( ... )

Americans are fat because they're gluttonous bastards who worship McDonalds-like garbage. I'm sure when it snows in places like Japan, people there "store calories to survive winter, drought and famine", but they don't get ridiculously obese over fish and soba noodles.
