This is exactly why I always make such a big deal of canon lesbian/bi women. It is important. Queer visibility MATTERS. I can't even tell you how important having Xena on my TV was when I was younger, and I'm so glad that today we have Cara, being a big queer hero for real.
I know. I thought, as I was coming to realize about myself: Why don't they teach children about this in school?! When we have sex ed, and all that - LGBT kids deserve to understand themselves, to understand that they're okay, and they deserve to be able to grow up open, ready to love who they love, and be blessed by it so much - just like straight kids.
They don't deserve to struggle and feel all of these awful feelings about themselves. It's inhumane. It's just cruel.
So, hey, sweetie. You did it. You found some words. :)
And beautiful, heartfelt ones, too.
Hugs to you for being bold enough to recognize yourself when you saw a reflection in Tabrett's work, and thanks and kudos for Tabrett for being willing to do the work and doing it so.damn.well. that people could recognize something real of themselves in it.
She'd be gratified, no doubt, to know that people such as me have good friends around, to be comforting, kind, gently encouraging, and to walk beside us when we're going through the shaky time that it sometimes is, in opening up to ourselves, too.
