Unwavering - pure immortality.

The dead rise almost as if they'd never slept.

And what is a heartbeat? A token of humanity? Reassurance? Damn it, and damn the Muggles who can't see past the simple, crude magic of anatomy. What's it matter if the lack of a heartbeat signals the unnatural? No, the supernatural? The prerogative of 'human' as 'that which must die' is in and of itself a fallacy, a complacency of the idle mind that can't grasp evolution.

This City is the No Man's Land, this City destroys men.

It makes Gods of us.

And I shall know its ability. I shall take what it gives, leave nothing.

More fool he who waits on gifts. More fool he who will die waiting.

Good afternoon!

As Mr. Winchester cordially explained, we can linger here no longer. But if any effort - negotiations, research, or war - is asked of us to secure our departure, we cannot go uninformed.

With that in mind, I've taken the opportunity to put down a number of inquiries I believe might help us find a reason to the ways of this world, and to the pattern of appearances and disappearances of our fellow citizens.

Explain or withhold details at your leisure.

INQUIRIES

  • Do you dispose of any... shall we say, superhuman abilities? Have you found them bound in any way? Accentuated?

  • To your knowledge, has another with empire over your face, your memories, your very being arrived in the City before you? Do you recall anything of that experience? Do you have any dreams that might hint at prior memories?

  • Have you died here, or did you happen to arrive past the point of your natural death? And if so, how has this changed you?

  • Have you visited your homeland since arrival? Did you find it changed in such a way that - as the paper herald - might suggest an impending end of all worlds?

  • Have you or others noticed a pattern to the curses, over time, or have you developed any sort of sensitivity, or immunity to them?

For the time, let's we leave it at that. I ask only that you should attach your name, and perhaps occupation, or any other details you think might affect your answers.

And I'll thank you for your honesty. And your faith.
