The sad part is, some of the people there probably feel zero remorse and some I'm sure even think it's funny or "cool" to have killed someone while trying to buy a widescreen TV.
Shit like this makes me want to move to an uncharted island in the South Pacific and eat my cereal out of hollowed-out coconut shells for the rest of my life.
I don't know, I think people have always been this way (just take a look at Rome under the Julio-Claudians, for instance) It's shocking, now, when it happens, I think, because we expect that we are somehow better than that by this point in history and we're just not.
tramplings, are usually a result of such a great mass of people, that the people who are actually doing the tramplling have no way of stopping themselves due to the size of the crush. The fault is less the people, then the people whom manage the location and activity. poor planning, and inability to control a very large croud.
usually people who try to help those trampled, end up trampled themselves. where as controling how many people choose an activity is even harder.
Yeah, I've been to that Wal-Mart and it is definitely the bottom of the barrel. Honestly, I've been to a number of Wal-Marts and while they're not all THAT bad, most were close. :P
Besides, if you're poor or unemployed (and I can speak from personal experience this season) the last place you are is in line to buy consumer electronics.

I just don't understand the madness to own a bunch of junk. I guess commercials really do work on like 75% of the population.
