I hate work. I hate work when I'm still out of sorts and my chest is a little tight from last night. I didn't think Aurors could do spells like that and get away with it. I'd have taken the day off, if there wasn't a few bodies to deal with. I can't cover a Killing Curse easily. Not now. I could perhaps weaken the magical trace to Dolohov on it.
Wait...there's more...This one's had his throat slit. As in slit right across. We didn't do that. This guy's one of...he's one of us. You can pass off cuts across the leg as accidental. Well, it's time to do my job.
I wish I could get his screams out my head. I wish they weren't following me at every corner. I wish I could go home and confess my sins to Eleanor. I wish he'd stop fucking screaming. I can't stop thinking about it. I need to, but I can't get away from it. I didn't mean it. I didn't. I only did what I had to. I only followed orders.
I have two murders down here you might want to have a look at. Both from last night.
There's John Stephenson - 27 - Muggleborn wizard - time of death was between 10 and 12 on the 14th of Feburary - employed as a security guard by a Ministry official, according to the paperwork on his body. Cause of death is Killing Curse, but the magical trace is weak, which suggests it was badly cast, but also hinders our ability to find those responsible.
The second one is Gregor Kinashvili - 19 - Georgian pureblood time of death difficult to determine but late on the 14th, possibly into the early hours of the 15th - he had a permit to visit from the Soviet Union in his passport, but there is very little other information on him as to his status in the country. Cause of death is loss of blood from several cuts across his chest and one, presumably fatal, cut across his neck.
There are more bodies down here, but these two are blatantly deliberate, the others could well be accidental, and there is not substantive proof as yet to prove those deaths were murder or manslaughter. However, if you have time, I suggest you send someone down here to have a better look.
Sincerely,
Healer Caius Nott,
Ministry pathologist.
Is your wound alright? I would have helped you last night, but I was too light headed to do a decent job of it. I also have some rather bad news for you, I am afraid.
Thank you for letting me stay at yours last night. I think if I'd have apparated, I'd be in six different places right now. It's most appreciated, and I'd say more, but I have to get back to my morning of covering up.
I thought I would warn you all, the Aurors are no longer showing as much restraint on which spells they use.
Also, what happened last night? There were smouldering buildings in the street and a disproportinate amount of people in my morgue. Anybody?
I don't suppose anyone would like to fill me in on why there's a burnt down building or two in town? And a mess surrounding it? I came into work early, so missed the paper. What happened? It looks awful.
