Saw two multi-part documentaries that were kind of popular on Netflix. Tiger King was interesting but not spectacular and didn't warrant all of the hype. I'd say that it had lots of good content but wasn't artful in it's display. Don't Fuck With Cats on the other hand was a total let down. Watched End of Watch a cop movie with Jake Gyllenhal. It wasn't good because it was all improved, and it was shot like found footage amateur film.

Saw Parasite. It was good but not my thing. Saw The Villainess, and I liked it better even if it was a La Femme Nikita clone with lousy special effects. The best part was the beginning. Then I saw A Taxi Driver which I liked more than either.

Saw The Divine Move and Horns. Both were just alright.

Watched Nameless Gangster and The Fury of a Patient Man tonight. Both were alright but not something I would watch again.

Saw The Deluge (1974) a very good Polish film kind of like Dr. Zhivago written by a Polish Nobel Prize winner. It was set during a war in 1655 which is a time period I don't think I've ever seen a war film about. It was cool to see cavalry charges, muskets, swords, pikes, cannons and all of that stuff. Saw a Finnish film called Pathfinder from the 80s. It was eh.

Watched Trial on the Road and ARQ. Trial on the Road was a decent Russian ww2 flick about a soldier redeeming himself. ARQ was a fairly ordinary groundhogs day story.

I watched 18 movies completely. I watched a bunch I never finished though. Didn't love any of them. Kind of liked Dolemite is My Name. I really liked the Horatio Hornblower books by C.S. Forester and Scaramouche by Rafael Sabatini. Nothing else tickled my fancy. I picked up a new podcast I like to listen to called PKA which has an Opie and Anthony ( Read more... )

Watched a Russian comedy film called Ivan Vasilievich: Back To the Future. It's based on a play by Mikhael Bulgakov and was watchable. This guy invents a time machine and sends his apartment supervisor and a burglar back in time to impersonate Ivan the Terrible while the real Ivan the Terrible is stuck in his time.
