My dog is very, very strange

My mother and I took two of our three cats to the vet today for their booster shots. The two cats in question are Pandora, age 11, and Mr Yowlee (name self-explanatory), age 10. The vet we have is really, really nice - and hot too, which is a bonus :)

When he examined Dora, we mentioned that we've been trying to get her to lose weight because she's getting fat. He said we should get her to eat more canned food instead of dried, but she's never liked canned food, so he suggested that we try feeding her people food - chicken, tuna, shrimp, etc. So tomorrow we're going to try giving her some tuna and see if she likes it.

As for Mr Yowlee, turns out he had a crazy amount of gunk in his ears, and his teeth are infected again. The vet thinks he's got some kind of autoimmune disease - anyway, what it means is that he needs his teeth cleaned again, plus a couple more extracted (he's had one extraction before).

During the proceedings, we mentioned that the family dog, Loompa, a British bulldog, has another weird problem on top of his other weird problems. He's already got something called allopecia (probably spelling that wrong) that causes him to lose the fur on his side due to lack of sunlight after the winter, for which he takes medication. He's also got anxiety issues that cause him to shake uncontrollably during thunderstorms or sometimes just whenever its windy, for which he takes anxiety medication.

NOW he's started licking one of his paws until it's sore. The vet says he's probably got OCD. Yes, my dog has obsessive-compulsive disorder. He suggested putting vaseline on the paw and putting cayenne pepper on top of the vaseline to discourage him from licking it, which we tried later that day. But he actually licked the pepper off - and that stuff is HOT. We're going back tomorrow with our other cat, so we'll ask him if he has any other ideas.

On the fanfic front, I finished chapter 31 of Simulacrum Seal. I'll give it one last read-through tomorrow and then post it. Clara Minutes, my beta reader, says she'll get the next chapter of Anomie back to me around Wednesday, so look for chapter fourteen, and the first scene with Harry meeting Voldemort, to be posted this week!
