So I just got out of The Passion of the Christ. First off, an incredibly visually and audially stunning film. It's an art flic, to be sure. The production, cinematography, acting, and casting were excellent. Yes, I know that it was inacurate to have everyone speaking either Aramaic or Latin. Wow. Thanks for that wonderful review of the movie. I beleive this has been the best review I have read thus far. It describes the movie, motives, and other details important to the film. :)

Not a problem. I don't want to call one of my posts "important", but I do think the kind of tabula rasa I tried to take to the movie is what viewers of it need.

i'm pretty sure it was Isaiah 53:5 that was quoted:

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

good review of the movie but i disagree some on the facts. Christ probably spoke Hebrew and Aramaic. Aramaic was like an everyday language and widely spoken in the middle east for centuries before and after Christ.

I've specified this in other forums, just didn't go into detail here. Yes, Aramaic was an "everyday language". In fact, it enjoyed a status not unlike English is today. It was a trade language. Jesus most certainly spoke Aramaic, even fluently, as a large number of people on the planet now speak english. Aramaic was not, however, the language he would have used to speak to his Apostles and mother anymore than a german would speak to his family in english while in germany.

Well done. FINALLY, someone who knows what they are watching. It's a fucking movie people, a piece of art, the artist perception on christ, THAT'S IT! NOTHING MORE! I'm sick of hearing all the shit from this film. I have yet to see it. I'm not ready to go into a theater full of people to watch this brutality. I agree with the not taking your children to this moive. I heard that church groups are going to this movie. Like they are trying to learn something from this. Like I said before people it's a movie nothing more. Let's try not to look too deeply into it. Oh my god, how ironic, now on tv they are talking 'bout the movie........help me.

I also agree with the person playing Satan, I've seen who plays that character on tv, perfect. I actually watched a special on Mel 'bout the movie. He says himself, it is his vision. He is an artist. And I hate that people are trying to make this into a big deal. Because it's a movie 'bout Christ we can rip it apart, and say it's not true, or that the information is all wrong?! Religion is a touchy subject.
