Political activist Russell Means, a founder of the American Indian Movement, says he and other members of Lakota tribes have renounced treaties and are withdrawing from the United States.

i had just watched some movie with vikings raiding america with russell means when i heard about this.
a part of me is suspicious of means, it's hard to be sure. the AIM movement was certainly heroic but there was alot of convoluted infiltration. and i haven't followed things like i use to.

i really know nothing about it. the most i've read about is what's going on with the dineh at black mesa, trying to fight back the coal companies. reading this article surprised me...i guess we'll just wait to see what happens next.

there's factions suspicious of means. it's hard to tell, it got so bad in the 70's. alot of lives were lost and cointelpro did their worst. i'm sure some AIM guys sold out under pressure. they were huge inspirations for me in my formative youth.
i might trust him more if his movies were better. john trudell did some amazing movies including thunderheart and incident at oglala. means did mohicans which wasn't bad it just didn't get to the hardcore stuff. but trudell lost his wife and children to murder back then.
