I think I'll go in the woods today...

This came to me this afternoon...

I think I'll go in the woods today
and watch the springtime come this way:
The melting snow, the moss on trunks,
the tiny shoots of cabbage du skunk*

:-)

That's just what I did today! And yesterday, too. :)

Ha HA! Me, too! But in northern VT, there's still a lot of snow to melt. I took a walk with friends and made new friends of their 3 (free-range!) horses.

Wow, a bilingual poem. ;-)

We were at a local Audubon reservation yesterday (Natick/Sherborn area). It's a mix of woods and marsh, and I have to say I saw very little of that cabbage. It doesn't seem to be out absolutely everywhere yet.

Actually, I took a little poetic license with that poem. It was a little too wet out there for me to go look, but I figured it must be out there somewhere ;-)

I've smelled the real thing twice in the past couple of weeks. No Cabbage du skunk in evidence though.

Ah. I figure there *have* to be shoots, even if we can't see them yet, right?
