You know what is literally impossible to get your hands on? Detailed scoring protocols from Olympics or World Championships from the '80s.
http://www.sports-reference.com/olympics is a pretty good source for (most of) that wrt: the Olympics? but I have no idea whatsoever where you could find the info for Worlds (except maybe from one of those fans who would write every score in every competition watched down in a little notebook and save those forever :D).
(Meant to add - you need to click through to the individual skater to see the score breakdowns. Or at least that's the only navigation route to those that I've found.)
Thanks! The information is really buried on that site - I'd been there and hadn't been able to find it. And still nothing for Worlds. I was looking into rankings/scores for compulsory figures, and it seems like I'd have to engage in some serious academic research to find out what I want to know.
Poor Frenchies :( Injuries before major competitions suck
I'm hopeless when it comes to writing down stuff that I daydream, but I'd definitely try, if there was a prompt suitable for something short - I have this awful tendency to turn most plot bunnies into epic ideas that would only really stand a chance of getting written if they occured just at the right time for NaNoWriMo.
I suppose this might be my chance to have a go at Jeremy/Adam, which since Johnny's marriage is pretty much the only skating slash pairing** I don't feel horrendously guilty about daydreaming - it's easier to push Massimo aside for the duration than it is to do with Victor when he and Johnny are all cutesy newlyweds on twitter.
Will writing something for your own prompt be allowed?
**(Apart from Josh/Jason but that's not relevant for this, and in any case, I'm not gonna try it and risk it being awful when my friend has said she'll try to write them for my birthday in a couple of weeks)
Haven't decided on the rules yet, but I'm usually pretty loose about these things as long as everyone's being civil. So yes, it'll probably be your chance to try some Jeremy/Adam. I bet you won't be the only one prompting it, either, although it's a pairing I don't have much interest in writing, myself.
Thanks! So glad you like my writing! I've had a lot of Real Life lately that I've had to put ahead of fandom, which is why I haven't been writing much.
Sorry to say it probably won't be Jeremy/Adam, though. It's just not my pairing.
I have been arm-twisted into hosting a commentfic fest in honor of Worlds, which I'll put up tomorrow. If you prompt, there's a good chance you'll get the fic you're craving!
