What to join?
I lead a selfish, hollow, empty life. I've decided to devote some time as a volunteer for an organization doing something worthwhile. I just haven't decided which one yet. I know I really like working with children because adults are more of a pain in the ass. Kids are more fun. If anyone knows of a good organization to join, then please let

I know I'm a couple of weeks late, but... during the school year I work for a program called STAIR (Start The Adventure In Reading) which provides tutoring in reading and language arts to second grade students in Orleans and Jefferson Parish. All of the tutors are volunteers and we're always looking for more. The program is after school two days a week or on Saturday mornings and all that is asked of any tutor is one day a week (you can share a child with another tutor) or you can tutor the same child both days if the schedule works for you. They do tutor training so you know how to use their curriculum and during the summer they have "work days" where you can volunteer to help make the materials that will be used in the next year.
