The Windsor Spitfires now hold a place among junior hockey's dynasties.

The Spitfires completed a dominating performance Sunday at the Memorial Cup with a 9-1 win over the host Brandon Wheat Kings before 5,609 at Westman Place.

The eight-goal win ties the Memorial Cup record for most lopsided win in the final along with Toronto's 9-1 win over Quebec in 1973.

"You never expect to be in front like that," Spitfires overage centre Scott Timmins said.

It was Windsor's second straight Memorial Cup title and they became just the eighth team in the 92-year history of the tournament to win back-to-back titles.

"This team will be remembered as one of the greatest, that's for sure," Spitfires fourth-year defenceman Mark Cundari said. "After last year, we knew what we were going to do."

this was probably the first hockey game i watched all the way through. start to finish.
upset that i couldn't be downtwon for it like i was last year. instead, i'm 10 hours away.
