Hi. I'm a newbie. Can someone explain how to add an icon to my journal?

Go to the toolbar up top and mouse over "manage" and the smaller bar underneath will change and you'll see "userpics". It'll let you know how many you have free first, and as you scroll down, you'll see the add box at the bottom of the page. Browse to the icons you want (it's better to have them saved on your harddrive so the links don't change later) and add them. Be sure to put in keyword descriptors (mainly credits for whoever made them) and choose one as your default, then save.
