Yay for April sun!

Ah this weekend has been so good. For weeks up until this point I had been feeling small and uncommunicative and strange and so on, probably because of tiredness and general weirdness. My livejournal activity has been kind of non-existent in this time ( Read more... )

Have you checked the filter on your washing machine? It may just need cleaning, as it's supposed to be the things that collects any gunk when the machine is draining, and too much gunk can cause it to block up and stop draining. On my machine here the filter is located very nicely behind a panel on the front, so there's no moving the machine to get at it.

*nods* I was about to suggest that, as we had the same thing with our machine. Weirdly, when I cleaned it out there wasn't even very much in there, but it fixed the draining problem so I guess it must have been.

Yay! for mostly_a_catness on my flist!

I've checked the secret compartment - it all appears fine. I think when we eventually buy a new washing machine (hopefully ages in the future) I'll look out for one with a sensible filter arrangement. This machine came with the house so we didn't have much choice. It's ok in other ways though.

The manual is very japanese but they've tried to make it more accessible to their target audience (*just* house wives) so they have made it magazine-style, with articles about the various things and some cute pictures. They don't just tell you what you want to know - they make it sound as if you have just discovered a clever secret about the machine.

Yay for ixwinness! :-)

Ah, I have checked all there is to check unfortunately. There is a secret opening on the bottom at the front which gives access to the part of the system just before the drainage pump - this is where things like coins and buttons collect. There was nothing bad in there. About a year ago I found a pound coin in there from the previous owner of the house - bonus! Now I just need to find thousands of other pound coins that they've secretly hidden and then the house will have been FREE! ;-)

Glad to hear your feeling more like lj-ing. ;)

I love your description of the opera. It sounds like the sort of thing I would like but wouldn't go to from fear of getting the giggles in the middle. I did end up giggling at your description. (I also giggle at art openings.)

I ended up seeing the Philip Glass the night before leaving for Italy. The piece of paper you were given isn't the summary. It's the entire translated libretto.

Had a debate about what constitutes opera on the way home. I still believe I saw performance art around and over a song cycle. K says if there are costumes it's officially an opera.

Aha, you are indeed wise in the ways of strange opera-like things.

Hope you had a good time in Italy
