25-30 pounds is totally realistic by the end of the year. I've changed everything about the way I eat and exercise and I'm taking off between one and three pounds a week, so even if you adjust your eating habits and exercise habits just a little, you'll see results ( ... )

for portion control, I have switched to using a salad plate at dinner (eating needs are so much less after having a baby than while preggers, it really helps keep me from filling up my plate like I did when pregnant!)

Yeah, you know, I'd read about using smaller plates. So far, I'd just been eyeballing it for smaller portions on larger plates. Looking in our cabinet, there are a few smaller plates that I could use that would be good. Rock on. Thanks for the reminder.

a) That's Awesome. b) I still owe you $10. c) I totally need to get back on the wagon, and--even more than dieting--need to get back to exercising.

a) I'm so pleased!
b) It's cool; I know where you live. The other ten or so people, not so much. ;-)
c) Hiking rocks my socks. So does dancing. Hey, if you promised yourself to work on your numbers for Rochester at least three nights a week for a half hour to an hour till the show, you'd totally be kicking that exercising in the ass!

Thank you. And yes, we do. You've mentioned that you're on a new schedule for work. What does that look like exactly? And would you be up for hanging out and doing a little hiking/walking? :-)

*smiles* I was really excited when I heard about it back in January. I almost didn't join up because I was very pessimistic about my abilities. But I figured it could only help and hell, even if I lost all three months, I'd only be out thirty bucks. It seemed like the smart thing to do. I just really want the challenge to go on more. I'm thinking of starting my own, and have rumor that a friend might be running on soon.

If you start your own, or know someone who will, let me know! I'd love to join.

Wow, Great job! It sounds like you have found that you now enjoy walking/hiking. It is so easy to find outdoor things you like when they are easy to incorporate into your lifestyle. It is awesome that you have that great park nearby. Good for you on meeting your goal. 20lbs in 3 monts is impressive and a healthy rate of loss (1-2lbs per week). I am most proud of you because it seems that you are doing this the healthy way. Go you! I hope you are finding an increase in energy as well, that is the best benefit to eating healthy and exercising.

I've always loved walking and always loved this park. Michael and I used to go years ago when we first met, but just usually for a scenic stroll. We're getting into the fitness level of it hardcore now and I couldn't be happier about it. I'm trying very hard to lose it healthily. Some of it came off in chunks, but I seem to have settled into a 1-3 pound range per week that makes me very happy and is helping my energy levels.
