Why Music Matters

May 30, 2009 00:10

So, I was just reading Amanda Palmer's blog. She posted this, which she had forwarded to her by her dad. ( It's long but well worth the read. )

Just... wow. So, when I stop crying, I'm going to re-post this. Hope that's cool - thanks so much for sharing. :)

I know, right?! And go for it, with the re-posting. Amanda Palmer did and I did. Just keep the part with the credit of who said it and I'd think it's all good.

Wow.

That's an amazing piece, he really put words to something I've been trying to describe for years and have never been able to. I have a whole list of songs that make me feel. I can never explain what emotion they make me feel or why I love them so much, but they always fill me up with this overwhelming sensation of feeling the music. These are the songs that give me goosebumps and send shivers up my scalp because they pluck at my heart.

This author described that feeling of connecting with the music so incredibly well that I'm actually in awe.

Aside: I got Monday off and I'm coming to Norfolk to see you! I'll give you a call so we can make plans and stuff.

Awesome! We're looking at going to the actual beach on Monday, so that'd be a great place to get together. I don't do swimming on the beach; we're mostly going to walk/chill out. Gimme a call and we'll make plans! :-)
