Dream Theme

Jan 26, 2007 07:53

What does it mean when you have a recurring theme in your dreams--that theme being that you're wandering through a building, and you'd like to get out, but you can't find the exit. Nobody is chasing me (darn you Nobody!), and there are usually people I know in there, being friendly and nice (but usually waiting around for something, they're never ( Read more... )

And yes, I do need a change of scene :-) I'm trying not to just up and move across the country for no good reason.

According to dreammoods.com:

To see an exit in your dream, indicates that you are looking for a way out of a waking situation ( ... )

That's some good stuff, too.

I do have to say that churches can be different symbols to people with strong negative associations with organized religions.

Friends in my dream usually represent aspects of myself, but not necessarily ones I've rejected and want to reintegrate. Old friends that I haven't seen for years usually represent things about myself that I've forgotten or left behind years ago, that I'm beginning to reintegrate. They also make me wonder what the heck those people are up to.

I don't know if the "levels of the building" thing holds up for me, but it probably works for a lot of other people.

I certainly like your interpretation :-) And many of these things sound right. I don't feel like I'm stuck necessarily, but definately wanting someone to come along to reacquire confidence in my ability to have a relationship. And I wouldn't mind if that someone was totally hot, well, to ME--people who are objectively hot to everyone are a pain in the ass to date actually--seldom worth the trouble.

Very interesting interpretation--I'm more afraid of the box and am looking for the exit, which I like to think of as "freedom" rather than "death". But I feel like the entire structure of the universe is becomming more and more clear everyday, and yet the same ridiculous micro-structures continue to exist within it, and people passionately cling onto these tiny thing without noticing the big picture all around them. I feel frustrated by that, but don't know what to do about it, other than attempt to be a conduit, rather than a blockage.

Two possibilities:
1) Church is a place you should be, but often don't want to be. One lacking the safe exits that you yearn for may symbolize an unrewarding but safe situation which is hard to leave.
2) You are in the Chapel Perilous. It's dark in here, you are likely to be eaten by a grue.
