Reframing Xmas

Dec 14, 2006 09:58

"And I realized, in a revelation, that we are secularizing Christian
elements of Christian celebrations that had been Christianized so many
centuries ago from Pagan elements. And THAT is what the "War on
Christmas" is really all about. We are doing to them what they did to
my religious ancestors so many years ago. And they are terrified."

Dear Santa, Give The Jew Girl Toys. Probably not SFW without headphones.

You could do the latkes for solstice, as it coincides with the last day this year. ;) And don't forget the jelly-donuts!

I have been blessed to have my mother for four nights of Chanukkah, LSB for one night of Hanukah, and jenner will be here for three nights of Channuka, not to mention having both kids for at least part of every night.

Makes celebrating Santa with them on the 26th seem pretty palatable, despite the dramah to get to that point. I'll spend Xmas eve in a hotel in Portland with LSB and his daughter. He was concerned that it wasn't festive enough, but, in a turn of events I find fascinating the way a moth must feel about a blazing fire, I responded that it would feel festive wherever we were.

Oy!
