Fat Chance - Day 4

Weight continues to be down one pound.

Last night I got so hungry that I pigged out.  This means that I did not succeed in getting into ketosis.  Why?  Because if I were in ketosis, I would not have been hungry.  But why was I hungry?  Apparently the lettuce.  I was hoping that so few grams wouldn’t matter, but apparently it was enough to keep my ( Read more... )

I was on a diet once that did not require fasting to get into ketosis. I just had to eat mostly protein. I did lose weight, but it caused me to be very constipated so I stopped it. That was about 30 years ago. I cannot remember what it was called now. But it was long before any "keto" diet was around.  Could you just do the diet and skip the fasting? I don't think it's needed, at least it wasn't for me.

I think you're talking about the Atkins diet, which emphasized low carb, and was indeed a keto diet. I was just trying to jump-start a keto diet, but I ended up so hungry that I really ate a lot yesterday. I'm going to try to do all raw today, just to clean out my system and then re-evaluate.

Constipation is certainly an issue, and I'm going to have to keep that in mind.

No, it wasn't Atkins. This was from a business that was locally run in my city. It was not called a "keto" diet, but once I saw what that diet is, I knew it was similar. I don't think eating high protein, per se, is bad. But you have to keep up the fiber content somehow so constipation doesn't become an issue.
