I love the fact that I can put together a shorter, easier trip for myself just by knowing which buses run where than by asking the T website trip planner. A 2 bus, 65 minute trip that I plan myself, or a 77-83 minute trip involving either 3 busses, or bus, red line, green line? Hmmm... Not to mention, the green line that I need is the B line. At

Trip planner is useless. It used to tell me it'd take 2 hours to get from Newton to Longwood... it takes that long to get there from Worcester!

er make that Waltham, not Newton... but I lived 2 houses away from Newton so same difference!

This sort of problem is very similar to The Traveling Salesman Problem, and thus is considered "hard" by mathematical standards because there is no simple, efficient way to find a solution.

It's the sort of thing that modern computers are generally worse at than human minds.
